Grace unmerited. Grace undeserved. Given unconditionally from a God who is in relentless pursuit of you! I have recently been reading Galatians (a book in the New Testament), and just being reminded over again that it’s got nothing to do with me! You see, without God, we are nothing. There is a verse in Deuteronomy (MSG version) which says,
“God wasn’t attracted to you and didn’t choose you because you were big and important – the fact is, there was almost nothing to you. He did it out of sheer love, keeping the promise he made to your ancestors” -Deuteronomy 7:9
It’s not about us at all! It’s not about how good we are and how we can work hard to earn salvation, to earn the love of God, because we could never earn the love of God! We would NEVER be good enough for him! No, instead of us earning our salvation, God in his amazing grace gave his Son to die in our place so that we could be given a second chance. It’s free. It costs us nothing, yet it cost him everything! What do we do in response to this unearned grace? We thank him and accept his salvation! We should never take that for granted!
